July Adventures

We had a lot of fun in July.  Some of our relatives came to visit, and we spent a whole week exploring the beautiful state of Washington.

In Olympic National Park, we were hiking when we came upon these mountain goats, right on the trail.

We spent an evening at Ruby Beach on the Pacific Ocean in the national park.  It was magical!

Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge just outside of Lacey.  Preston and I have gone hiking here a few times.
Getting a piggyback ride from his cousin Eva's new husband Zack.

On July 4th, we were on Whidbey Island.  This state park is a great place to fly kites, and Preston had fun doing that with his cousin Nathan.

(That's Puget Sound in the background.)

From Whidbey Island, we took the ferry across Puget Sound.  The ferry is a super cheap thrill--the kids love it, and they feel like real sailors.

The coolest thing ever was when the kids caught sight of two seals swimming right past the boat.

He didn't have his jacket, so he was cold, but he had so much fun anyway.

In Seattle, our favorite place to eat on the pier is Ivar's Fish Barn.  The best part is feeding the seagulls.

Later on in July, Preston and I took Dallin to the airport to fly to Utah for soccer camp, and we spent the day in Portland at the zoo.

It's kind of hard to tell, but the reason he's grinning to big is because he's posing with the penguins, his favorite animal.
