Spring 2017

This is a terrible picture of me, but I love the look on Preston's face.  He is excited because we are about to begin his first sewing project--a little blue gnome doll.




This was the funniest thing ever--he made two of his hot wheels cars get married and created this elaborate wedding ceremony with all the other cars in attendance.  He even got a light to light up the "church".

The next few picture are of the kids decorating Easter eggs.

They got giant bubbles in their Easter baskets and had alot of fun using them out in the yard.

Sariah, Preston, and I went on a field trip to a nearby state park and had a blast hiking, climbing trees, and seeing the water.

 Just doing a little math. Preston had a really fun birthday this year.  Clothes!  And more clothes...  Automatic re-setting targets for his nerf gun.  LEGO Minecraft.  He's the first child in our family to enjoy Legos.  A science kit to make volcanoes.  Every year Preston chooses an Oreo ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.  We decided that it was time to throw Preston a birthday party with his friends.  He's actually never had one before.  The closest we ever got was inviting another family over when we lived in Pennsylvania.  But since he now has a neighborhood full of friends, it was time for a party.  We decided on a Minecraft theme.  We had it the day after his birthday.  So handsome showing off his new clothes. School

I don't have pictures at the moment due to computer issues happening yet again.  (I'm having to borrow James' work computer because our other one is currently dead.  Hoping a new cord will solve the problem.  This is the one replacing the computer that crashed last fall...  Sigh.) We started first grade five weeks ago.  Preston was determined that he did not want to be in first grade; he was sure it would ruin his ability to play all day, whenever he wanted.  However, he has adjusted quite well and while he is not quite ready to openly admit that he loves first grade, his actions and attitude during lessons tell me that he is generally having a good time. We follow the Waldorf educational philosophy, and "school" looks rather different that what you'd seen in a mainstream situation, but I love it, and it works really well.  Every day starts out with 45 minutes to an hour of poetry/verse, songs, and various movement activities such as hand-clap gam...

Preston decided this blog should be called "Preston's Blog"... so there you have it. In November I took Sariah and Preston to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium for a field trip: I asked Preston what his favorite animal was, and he said it was the penguin.  I couldn't figure out where he got that from, but later I found out that he has somehow become a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team and that's why he loves penguins.  We're not sure where he got that from since no one in our family follows hockey at all.  But he will tell anyone and everyone that he loves the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he tries to follow how they are doing in their games.  Dallin says he's not sure Preston really even knows what hockey is, but it is still cute.
